Pupillary distance (PD) is the distance between the centers of your pupils, measured in millimeters. It's a crucial measurement for accurately centering your lenses and ensuring optimal correction.
It can be given as a total value (e.g., 63 mm) or as monocular values, measured from the center of the nose to each eye (e.g., 31.5 mm / 31.5 mm). The latter allows for more precise alignment, especially for progressive lenses. In adults, PD typically ranges from 58 to 68 mm, with an average around 63 mm.
This measurement is especially important for prescription glasses, as it directly affects the quality of vision correction.
